Timothy Patrick Baumer opened Timothy Patrick’s Irish Restaurant and Pub in Penfield after he got fed up with corporate life.
The place was a longtime dream for Baumer. He made it a reality after a successful but ultimately unsatisfying career at places like Stromberg Carlson, Xerox Corp. and Bausch & Lomb. Baumer finally decided it was time for a change.
“I said, ‘I’ve got to get out of this,’ ” said the 72-year-old Baumer. “I had thought about doing a pub way earlier in my life. But you get the ‘gold handcuffs’ on you, you know?”
Baumer slipped out of the corporate shackles and leaped full-bore into pub proprietorship. He built Timothy Patrick’s on Panorama Trail with painstaking detail, creating a place with the look and feel of an authentic Irish pub. The grand opening was in January 1985. (more…)
